Insulin Pump Evening a Success
05 May 2011
Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust has held an educational evening for children with diabetes and their families.
Over one hundred attended the insulin pump evening at Staffordshire University.
Staff from the diabetes team at the Trust explained how insulin pump therapy works, the advantages and disadvantages and the pumps were also demonstrated.
The informal event also gave children with diabetes the chance to meet other children with the condition.
Karen Whitehead, Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse, said: 'We are thrilled to have had such an impressive turnout and plan to organise further events.'
Karen's team is also in the process of setting up a support group for parents who have children with diabetes.
The Trust has around 20 children on insulin pumps.
