Patients at Stafford and Cannock Chase hospitals are being treated to a festive musical treat from two pantomime dames.
The ugly sisters – also known as Frances Carr and Elizabeth Gooch of Age UK South Staffordshire – will carry out carol singing ward rounds at both hospitals this week.
They will be joined by a small army of Age UK volunteers who will sing traditional carols and dish out mince pies to patients.
“We sing carols on the wards every year to bring a bit of festive cheer to the patients,” said Frances.
“Last year we decided on a Second World War theme, which the patients thoroughly enjoyed. This year we have managed to get two fantastic ugly sister costumes for the event.
“The costumes are really garish, with striped stockings, colourful dresses and bright wigs, so they should raise a smile or two,” she added.
The colourful carollers will be singing at Stafford Hospital from 6-8pm on Wednesday 19 December and at Cannock from 2.30-4pm on Thursday 20 December.
Patients at both hospitals will also be transported back in time when Phil Clayton from RAF Cosford visits the wards to talk about Christmas past.
Mr Clayton’s Christmas coffee morning will take place on Monday 17 December at from 10am-12 noon at Cannock Chase Hospital and at Stafford Hospital from 2-4pm.
