Stafford Hospital is throwing open its operating theatres to the public for tours on Saturday January 26 from 10am – 3pm. Booking is essential.
Come along and speak to surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and other theatre staff and find out about the patient journey through surgery.
The half hour tour is based on advances in keyhole surgery and will include demonstrations of the latest technology in laparoscopic bowel (keyhole) surgery, showing off the Trust’s new high definition camera and screens.
The public will also have the opportunity to try their skills and coordination using a simulator and instruments. Representatives from suppliers will also be on hand to show off the disposable instruments used during procedures and people will be invited to handle these amazing pieces of technology. Also included is a tour of the anaesthetic room, recovery and patient intubation plus much more.
Although this is a Members' event, non-members are welcome and there will be an opportunity to join the Trust on the day, though this is not essential.
Anyone wanting to attend this event should call 01785 887504 or email membership@midstaffs.nhs.uk to book a place, numbers are limited. Time slots every half hour from 10-3 will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
